Eat like a local

From sunset cocktails over the water to wood-fired bakery treats, authentic Thai cuisine to classic pub fare, the South Coast’s culinary scene perfectly complements your luxury beach retreat.

Despite the village’s intimate size, within short driving distance are restaurants that locals and visitors return to again and again – each one capturing the relaxed, genuine hospitality that makes this corner of NSW so special. Whether you’re craving fresh local seafood, a lazy weekend brunch, or a celebratory dinner overlooking the water, you’ll find it here.

This is coastal living at its finest: spend your days barefoot on the sand, then slip into something comfortable for an evening of exceptional food and that unmistakable South Coast warmth. Here are our favorite spots to complete your perfect escape.

PICKLED OCTOPUS | 93d Trafalgar Rd, Tuross Head | 02 4473 6084

Picture yourself at sunset, perched over shimmering Tuross Lake with a glass of wine in hand. This waterfront gem combines authentic Thai flavors with the freshest local seafood, and guests rave about the seafood curry’s rich, aromatic depths. The Choo Chee Prawns? They’re an absolute must – our personal favorite in the area. One diner was so impressed they ordered takeaway the very next night. The lakeside views alone are worth the visit, but coupled with food this exceptional, it’s easy to see why it maintains a high rating on Google.

“We have had many dinners at the Pickled Octopus but our dinner on Wednesday 8th October was simply stunning. My sister from Sydney said it’s the tastiest Thai food she has ever eaten. Beats all the Thai restaurants in Sydney. The waitress said the chefs use all the fresh herbs from the garden. Will definitely be visiting again.” – Google Review
